Shanti Nilayam

A haven of peace

A bicentenary house typically Tarnaise, made of stone and lauzes, and its 5000 m2 of wooded and flowered gardens, for which we fell in love immediately. We are investing all our energy to make it a true haven of peace. At the exit of a charming little hamlet of 22 inhabitants, the silence is master and the many birds enchant us. The century-old trees offer us shade for yoga, meditation and relaxation sessions under the shelter of their foliage. Several hiking trails at the foot of the house open up more space for freedom and breathtaking views overlooking the Tarn valley. A house where it’s good to live and take your time, as if you could stop for a moment, the time to let yourself go to the rhythm of nature, by recharging your body, your heart and your mind.

Yoga

Hatha & Vinyasa

The term HATHA Yoga is the combination of 2 syllables meaning respectively in Sanskrit, “HA” for the Moon (verse, with) and “THA” for the sun (verse, with). The original goal is spiritual liberation with and through a healthy body. A combination of postures, breath control, listening to the inner sound, through concentration and meditation. The ASHTANGA VINYASA YOGA, is a dynamic physical yoga school with a more recent teaching. ASHTANGA (all 8 members) and VINYASA (synchronization). A practice of more intense postures combining breath control (Ujjayi) with Drishti (vision) and mastery of gaze points.

Ayurveda

Massage & consultation

Ayurveda meaning “AYU” for life and “VEDA” for knowledge of science. This combination represents the science of life. The first Vedic texts evoking Ayurveda date back to 5000 years ago. Ayurveda implies a sacred bond between body and mind demonstrating that we are our own doctor, and our own poison. Ayurveda is the symbiosis of physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Knowing yourself and eating well, practicing physical activity and freeing your mind towards spirituality, these are the principles of Ayurvedic balance to keep your body, heart and mind healthy.

About me

Namaste

I am Myriam, I was born in 1967 and grew up in a perched village in the upper Var, where my childhood was happy. Very quickly I understood that I was dreaming of adventure, of wide open spaces and some kind of spiritual escape without knowing what was really holding my attention. After discovering South America, the Caribbean, North Africa and Europe from west to east through the centre, my heart was totally opened to Asia and more precisely to India. My mind was won over. Throughout my encounters and my many stays in India, I have taken the step of wanting to pass on this art of living which has blossomed, healed and taught me another version of life. It is in all humility that I now share this philosophy, this concept of living well with oneself and therefore with others, in harmony with one’s environment through gestures full of common sense and spirituality. I settled in this peaceful house with my family to live there in accordance with this simple balance, to smile at life, to take care of our bodies and to awaken to spiritual liberation day after day.
